PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Mummers organization says, ” The Philadelphia Mummers Parade features unique costumes, music, and pageantry. Crowds line Broad St., from South Philadelphia straight through Center City. The climax of the parade takes place at City Hall and the PA Convention Center where the official judging takes place.

The parade itself is one of the longest running traditions in the country. The parade began in 1900 as an official event for the city, however the parade has been going on since the 1800’s as a way to celebrate the New Year. The parade itself is divided into five divisions.”

When: New Year’s Day, January 1, 2013 starting at 10 a.m.
Where: The Parade marches north up Broad Street to JFK Boulevard.

WEST CHESTER, PA — On Sunday, veterans held a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in West Chester followed by a parade down Gay Street. There was a variety of veterans, antique military vehicles, floats and both the East and Rustin High School Marching Bands.

AMBLER, PA — On Saturday, October 27th, the annual Ambler Halloween Parade is being held as the town’s merchants and businesses welcome children into their shops for treats and more!

October 27 – Halloween Parade
December 1 – Holiday Parade
December 8 – Santa by Train
December 12 – Ambler Symphony at the Ambler Theater
December 18 – Family Movie Day

“I am very excited that the town will be bustling with so many different events”, said Charles “Bud” Wahl, Mayor of Ambler, “we have a mix of our annual traditions as well as some new opportunities to showcase the best that this town has to offer.”
