Saturday May 4th – 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM TAG Education for Liberation Curriculum Fair and Citywide Summit Folk Arts and Cultural Treasures School, 1023 Callowhill Street

The morning Curriculum Fair will feature workshops, unit and lesson plans, projects, resources, and best practices for social justice education. This will be a space for educators to connect and exchange, learn from each other, and take new ideas back to their own classrooms. The afternoon Summit will be a space for building stronger community alliances for education justice, as parents, students, community members, and educators. Our public schools are under attack, and it will take a movement to fight back. Come learn from people who have organized together to save and transform their schools, and figure out how to take the lessons back to your school community.

The fair will also be featuring sessions hosted by The Attic Youth Center, Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement, Decarcerate PA, and more!

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) gets another victory! The city of NY will have to pay for destroying the OWS library, Global Revolution’s media equipment, and Time’s Up NY’s bike generators when they cleared Zuccoti Park during the eviction. The Bloomberg administration was also forced to write an essay about what it learned from the incident. “Plaintiffs and Defendants recognize that when a person’s property is removed from the city it is important that the City exercise due care and adhere to established procedures in order to protect legal rights of the property owners.”

Fans of justice will be glad to hear that New York City will pay for all those books and all that media equipment that the police trashed when it famously raided the Occupy Wall Street camp on November 15, 2011. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York just announced a $366,700 settlement in Occupy’s case against the city for the damage caused during the raid as well as all of the legal fees the movement’s poured into seeking retribution. bookmark_borderOccupy Philly Wells Fargo Trial: Not Guilty

PHILADELPHIA, PA — It has been over a year since 12 members of the Occupy Philadelphia movement were arrested inside a Wells Fargo bank in center city Philadelphia. This week they were put on trial in front of jury facing charges of criminal trespass and conspiracy.

The defendants put on a strong defense based on the 1st Amendment’s right to free assembly, as well as, “justification” due to imminent danger being caused by Wells Fargo. During the trial, character witnesses pointed out the contributions the defendants have been making since their arrests including: forming Inter-occupy, Occupy Sandy and organizing a new community center.

On March 5, 2013 the jury returned the verdict — not guilty of conspiracy and defiant trespass.
